Day 3: A person who has impacted your life in some way this year. 

I really hope he has forgotten about my blog because it’d be embarrassing if he read this. Someone who has impacted my life this year is Mark Douglas. He has been a great addition to my otherwise insignificant existence. Hahaha I might be exaggerating just a little here, but honestly, he is one of the best people I know. He’s really funny, witty, smart, caring etc. I know lots of people who are all these things, but it’s only around Mark Douglas that I feel kind of.. peaceful? That’s not really the word I’m looking for. Calm/at ease, maybe? His presence just makes everything better. And that sounds really lame but it’s true!

When I first met Mark Douglas, I didn’t think much of him. He came into the dining hall and sat down across from me and Emily and didn’t say anything. I said ‘hi’ and after a bit of small talk, he became known to all of us as “the 23 year old who transferred from Monash Med”. He’s a lot more than that now. It’s funny how perceptions change.. as you get to know someone, you realise how amazing and beautiful they are, and then think back to that time when you didn’t know them much and never would have thought they’d be as special to you as they are now. He’s a really good friend who has put up with a lot of my craziness this year. Totally irrelevant, but he is also a master of the UMAT hahaha

It’s his birthday today; he’s 24 if you can believe it. He doesn’t really act like a 24 year old, although if I really think about it, how is someone who is 24 supposed to behave? The other day Meena was being stupid (as always) by trying to make me believe one of his silly lies and I said something like “You can’t trick me, how old do you think I am?” He replied, “It’s not how old you are, it’s how old you act”. Ignoring the fact that he was being insulting (again, as always haha), I think what he said is completely true.
